Beth, a recent guest from Ohio, captured this photo of a Blue Heron near the jetty right in front of the Cottage late in the day.  She says she watched it struggle to eat a small crab then walk slowly and gracefully through the water towards the beach.  Blue Herons are seen often this time of year at the Cottage.

Guests celebrating their first anniversary caught this 17″ flounder from their kayak right in Hills Bay last week. They say they found it at Cherry Point, the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay visible from the Cottage.  They report they caught a few larger ones as well.

Charlottesville artist Kaki Dimock painted a mural of a blue crab in the twin bedroom this week at the Cottage.  We hear the crab is quite happy in its new habitat and may stick around.
